 How Do I Register to Vote?

Come to the Town Office and fill out a voter registration card.  You can also register to vote on election day at the polls. 

If you are a first time Maine voter, proof of identity will be required as well as proof of West Paris residency. 

Types of acceptable proof include a Maine Driver's License, Maine State ID, (or out of state photo driver's license for ID purposes) mail addressed to actual residence (no P.O. boxes) or a utility bill with service address shown. 

If you do not have proof of residence contact the Registrar of Voters at the West Paris Town Office at 674-2701.

 How Do I Vote Absentee?

Any registered Maine voter may vote absentee.  An absentee ballot without explanation can be requested until the "close-of-business" on the Thursday prior to an election. After that, one will have to have a "Special Circumstance" to request an absentee ballot.

An absentee ballot can be obtained in person, by mail, phone, immediate family member, third party or by electronic http://www.maine.gov/sos/cec/elec/voter-info/absent.html means.

If the ballot is to be taken out of the Town Office an Absentee Application will need to be filled out.

 

 Where Do I Vote?

Voting on Election Day is conducted in the meeting room at the West Paris Town Office located at 25 Kingsbury Street. 

Elections are normally held on Tuesday's and notices are posted at the Town Office and one other location at least seven days before the election. 

Normal election days in Maine are the Tuesday after the first Monday of June and the Tuesday after the first Monday of November. 

The polls open at various times but close at 8:00 p.m. throughout the State of Maine.
